چکیده

It has been suggested that hippocampal rhythmical slow activity (theta rhythm) is related to cognitive process and the genesis of P300 response. To test this hypothesis, hippocampal EEG data from CA1 were recorded from rats trained to perform auditory discrimination oddball paradigm. In well-trained rats, signi"cant changes in the hippocampal theta rhythm were observed during an auditory oddball paradigm. Here we used an arti"cial modular neural network with wavelet coe$cients to investigate whether changes in the hippocampal theta rhythm are related to cognition of right tone objectively. However, an objective data interpretation with the modular neural network does not support the hypothesis that changes in theta rhythm are related to cognitive process. In addition, it was con"rmed that changes in taskrelated theta rhythm before/after learning the auditory oddball paradigm resulted from the fact that training changed the character of the motor behaviour. 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. The state dependency effect of morphine on memory by behavioral and electrophysiological methods in freely moving rats

Endogenous opioid system agonists exert amnestic effects in different models of memory. It has been suggested that these amnestic effects may be linked indirectly to state-dependent learning. Accordingly pre-training administration of morphine can impair the retrieval of learned tasks in a state dependent manner, which is reversible by pre test morphine administration. In this study, state depe...

A novel miniature telemetric system for recording EEG activity in freely moving rats.

Telemetric recording systems offer the advantage to monitor physiological parameters in freely moving animals without any restrictions in their explorative behaviour. We present a novel, inexpensive, portable and reusable telemetric system to record the electroencephalogram (EEG) from adult freely moving rats under various experimental conditions. Our system consists of an implantable transmitt...

Spatial Learning and Memory in Barnes Maze Test and Synaptic Potentiation in ‎Schaffer Collateral-CA1 Synapses of Dorsal Hippocampus in Freely Moving Rats

Introduction: Synaptic plasticity has been suggested as the primary physiological mechanism underlying memory formation. Many experimental approaches have been used to investigate whether the mechanisms underlying long-term potentiation (LTP) are activated during learning. Nevertheless, little evidence states that hippocampal-dependent learning triggers synaptic plasticity. In this study, we in...

Comparing Developmental Changes of Hippocampal EEG During REM Sleep Using Correlation Dimension

This paper presents a nonlinear dynamics analysis of the ontogeny of the hippocampal EEG recorded from electrodes implanted at two primary sites that generate the theta rhythm—the pyramidal cell layer at CA1 and the granule cell layer at the dentate gyrus. The hippocampal EEG was collected during the vigilance state of REM sleep from freely moving rats of 15 and 90 days of age. The correlation ...
